Highlights:
Despite the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robots, drones and automation, agriculture needs people. Humans! And it's already employing them. Only in the 2nd quarter of 2023, the sector generated 28.3 million jobs In Brazil, which corresponds to 26.9% of the jobs created in the country. The biggest highlight was agro-services, with an increase of 7.5%, in relation to the same period of the previous year, followed by growth of 5.8% in the input segment, according to data from Cepea (Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics), in partnership with CNA (Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation).
The demand for work in the sector has also increased. From January to June 2023, the number of applications for opportunities in the sector on the National Employment Bank (BNE) platform reached 14,750, compared to 11,436 in the same period last year, which represents a growth of 29%.
With agribusiness becoming more and more tech-savvy, the sector has also entered the competition for technology professionals. From the most difficult to understand job titles, like “DevSecOps”, to drone technicians. From hardware to software, from machinery to backend. In the era of artificial intelligence, agriculture needs human intelligence.
However, the sector has been facing a lack of labor to face some challenges. Read the full article in my column on Futurecom Digital to know more.
